Product Information

Description

Slotting into the MXnet ecosystem as a fast switching, low latency 12-port network switch for basic systems, the AVPro Edge AC-MXNET-SW12 is also perfect as a stackable add-on unit to our 24-port and 48-port switches, providing a flexible, lower cost extension option for planned or emergency system expansion. Four 10 Gbps SFP+ ports facilitate link aggregation through MXNet’s Mentor software.

AC-MXNET-SW12 leverages the network operating system developed by AVPro Edge for the AC-MXNET-SW24 and AC-MXNET-SW48 network switches to analyze multicast packetization and optimize switch speed for data throughput. Like all AVPro Edge switches, the AC-MXNET-SW12 is preconfigured for plug-and-play simplicity with the MXnet ecosystem.

Key Benefits

Fast Switching – Nearly instant source-to-source switching from encoders to decoders. MXnet switches sources with the exact timings and same resolution in less than two seconds, with zero visible black frames.

Low Latency – Average audio with video latency time is 35 ms, virtually undetectable to the eye and by ear. Latency varies depending on signal type and matching decoder model. The findings for our latency testing are:

  • MXnet Point to Point (HDMI or Decoder Analog Out)
    • Equal to or less than 33 ms (the approximate equivalent of 1 video frame)
  • MXnet Encoder (Non-Downmixing/2CH PCM Only)
    • Equal to or less than 1 ms
  • MXnet Encoder (AVDM)
    • Equal to or less than 60 ms
    • 60 ms is achieved when downmixing High Bit Rate audio (Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master Audio), though it typically tests as slightly less. Less than 100 ms is considered indistinguishable

IAVP (Intelligent A/V Processing) – AVPro Edge has re-engineered every system module for optimization with multicast processing, including a comprehensive reworking of IGMP, Jumbo Frames, Spanning Tree, and multicast filtering.

MXnet NOS (Network Operating System) – Multicast CPU utilization has also been completely reworked, resulting in remarkable data throughput efficiency.
When the switch is fully populated, processor loads never exceed 40%.
System boot times are 1 minute and 45 seconds from cold power-up to full operational functionality, including POE device power-up.
